Bill Redpath for U.S. Senate

Libertarian Solutions for Our Times

I’m Bill Redpath, Libertarian, running in the special election for the U.S. Senate in Ohio for 2026. My platform combines conservative stances on economic issues and generally liberal positions on social issues.

My core philosophy: people should be able to live their own lives as they choose, without interference, as long as they do not harm other people or their property. To that end, my campaign calls for reduced government spending, lower taxes and real respect for civil liberties.

That is the philosophy behind the positions I take on the issues of this election.

Bill Redpath on the Issues

Health Care

Health care is not a right, because it requires the talents and resources of other people. The federal government is not empowered by the U.S. Constitution to provide health care. Health care for the poor should be treated as a welfare issue and handled by the states.

National Defense

The United States spends too much for its defense. The Department of Defense will spend about $720 billion in the Fiscal Year ending September 30, 2020. The US is subsidizing its rich allies with money borrowed from our children. We are slowly bankrupting ourselves to pay for the defense of other nations that can afford to defend themselves.

Victimless Crime

Repeal all Federal laws regarding consensual crimes. As with the end of alcohol prohibition, the Federal government should end its drug prohibition and allow the states to address this issue. Also, the Federal government should repeal its prohibition of online gambling and allow Americans the freedom to gamble, if they so choose, from the privacy of their own homes.

Bill Redpath – Libertarian Leader

Bill Redpath has a lifetime commitment to the Libertarian Party and Libertarian Philosophy.

Active in the Party

He is a former Chairman of the LNC, having served two terms in that position from 2006 to 2010. He has served on the LNC from 1989 to 1993, and again from 2003 to 2020.

Redpath is one of 14 inductees into the Libertarian Party’s Hall of Liberty, having been inducted in 2016 with former US Representative Ron Paul.

A Proven Candidate

He has run for office as a Libertarian candidate six times before; specifically, he ran for the Virginia House of Delegates (1993), the Virginia Senate (special election in January 1998), Governor (2001), U.S. Senate (2008 & 2022) and US House, Tenth District of Virginia (2010 & 2014).

Committed to Voter Choice

Bill is perhaps best known within the Libertarian Party for his work on ballot access. He served as Chairman of the Libertarian Party Ballot Access Committee from 1990 to 1997 and is currently again in that position. In 1992 and 1996, the Libertarian Party presidential ticket was on the ballot everywhere in the United States. This marked the first time that a “minor” political party placed its presidential ticket on the ballot in all states in successive presidential elections.

How Limited Government Works

Discover the simple steps to start using my approach and unlock its full experimental capabilities.

Step One: Elect Libertarians

Choose candidates whose main concerns are Freedom and Peace, not Party and Power.

Step Two: Support Freedom in Law

We need to tell our elected officials that we want fewer regulations and taxes.

Step Three: Review Results

Stop voting for a person or a party. Only re-elect politicians who consistently vote for less spending.
